
Phase 2 – Gender Equity
Campaign
Phase 2 of the YOU campaign focuses specifically
on gender inequity as a key driver of HIV infection.
The ads create an idealised vision of a gender equal
world.
The ads specifically highlight relationships between
men and women based on shared respect, responsibility
and caring. The ads recognise that men and women
are created equal and that sometime tradition and
stereotypes regarding women’s role in society
are a barrier to respect and caring. The ads hope
to build an understanding that there should be no
limits to a women’s ambition and possibility
to fulfill life’s dreams through hard work
in the same way as men. Sound relationships should
be based on joint decision-making particularly about
issues of when to have sex and/or start raising a
family.
